Well Rounded Background
I am the grandson of three Interdenominational preachers and the son of an Interdenominational preacher. Prior to seminary, I did tower work (i.e., building, painting and repairing radio and television towers usually between 300' and 1100' feet high) through several states of the United States middle section. In college, I was hired to do marketing, recruitment and audio / television engineering for the school in most states east of the Mississippi River, sections of Canada as well as Grand Cayman. I completed my Masters Degree with an Anthropological/Archaeological project in the Middle East.
While in seminary, I was a security guard and campus policeman at Anderson University. During that time, I assisted various law enforcement agencies with specialized intelligence and assignments. I was also the Graduate Assistant for the Psychology and Christian Educationl Departments of the school. As a Christian Ed Graduate Assistant, I directed and led 75 undergratuate students in weekend ministry worship assignments through Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Kentucky and Ohio. After graduation from seminary while waiting for a church opening, I was an Assistant Pastor at the First Church of God in Great Bend, KS; as well as a police officer for the city of Hoisington, KS.
Senior Pastor: I was the Senior Pastor of the Lenora Church of God in Lenora, KS; the Senior Pastor of the First Church of God in Yale, OK; and, the Senior Pastor of the First Church of God in Omaha, NE.
To supplement my income, I entered the Institute of Computer Science in Omaha, NE; and, obtained my Certificate of Computer Programming there. The computer school hired me on weekends to assist students in debugging their COBOL, IBM CICS, and IBM Assemblyprograms as a Laboraotry Instructor. I also wrote customized computer programs in SQL, VBASIC, and BASIC - and, continue to do so in companies with whom I am employed.
Chaplaincy: When a chaplaincy job became available in Kansas, I was able to use my extensive police training with ministry training to serve juvenile prisons in both Atchison, KS, as well as Larned, Kansas. In that, I was able to assist with over 20 years of spiritual crisis counseling; weekly preaching experiences; weekly small group sessions; individual pastoral counseling; regular Chaplain duties; report writing; and, Volunteer Director duties to involve recruitment, training, supervision and development.
Professor: While in Atchison, I supplemented my income as an adjunct professor in Philosophy at Highland Community College.
